Birthdays and Moving On

Birthdays are such an exciting event. I like the way family and friends get together to honour someone, and really, just praise God for His Goodness to us. We have the blessing of that special person in our lives, and we get to celebrate their time with us and what the Lord is doing during that time in their life.

From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. Acts 17: 26 and 27.

Some friends have passed away - moved on. One in particular, I remember with deep respect. She was a lady of courage and kindness, someone who asked for very little, and quietly gave her friendship. Her life was an example of what the Bible says in 1 Thess. 4:11 and 12 -

Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
