"You'd think we'd all have a pretty good handle on fear. Everyone knows that emotions are never very trustworthy guides. You can sit in a safe, climate - controlled movie theater with hot popcorn and a cold drink, and yet your emotions can be in complete upheaval because of what's being projected on the screen. Statistically, your greatest risk of injury from a commercial plane trip is in the car driving to the airport, but guess which part makes people's palms sweat. Our emotions rarely follow reality. Much of the time they actually tell us the reverse of what's true. It's like they're playing a game of opposites."
Fields of Gold, by Andy Stanley, page 75.
I just thought this was an interesting comment on fear. The book is dealing with finances, but this comment on emotions was good.
